Our farm is idyllically located on the edge of the small town of Biberbach near Beilngries, a really intact and beautiful place whose history goes back a long way. We were one of the first to rent out simple holiday rooms to summer visitors in this area - because our grandma started doing this in the mid-sixties. Renovations and new buildings have taken place over the years: the attic was expanded in 1993, holiday home 1 was built in 2000 and now, brand new since 2020, our luxurious holiday home 2. So we never stand still - and so all residential units are always kept up to date brought because we want our guests to feel at home. You can go hiking directly from our farm or go on endless excursions by bike along the Main-Danube Canal. Eichstätt is about 30 minutes southwest of us, Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz can be reached in about half an hour, Ingolstadt with its outlet is 40 km away and Regensburg with its beautiful old town is about an hour away.
Our holiday apartments vary in size and are suitable for couples and families. We have equipped them with high quality solid wood furniture, the kitchens are modern and have the best appliances. Our two holiday homes are very special treats: both have three bedrooms, ideal for families or couples who are friends. Holiday home 1 also has a tiled stove - a real treat during the cold season, after a hike or bike ride. Holiday home 2 is our latest project, with wooden and natural stone floors and lots of furniture made by the carpenter from our own oak wood. What is particularly important to us? That we operate sustainably: our wood chip heating is powered by our own wood and the photovoltaic system supplies the electricity, including for the battery storage. We are self-sufficient and we have a charging station for electric cars.

Arrive, be a guest, forget about everyday life: this works particularly well for us. We are quietly located on the outskirts of town, with the trout stream babbling through our garden. You can read a book in the shade of our trees, sit in the arbor at lunchtime, and light up one of our various grills in the evening. In summer, our guests love the nearby Kratzmühlsee, a natural idyll that you can reach by bike in 30 minutes or by car in 10 minutes. In the “Beilngrieser Touring Paradise”, cyclists, whether sporty or leisurely, will find their favorite tour, hiking trails directly from the farm lead through forests and meadows or along the water - just as you like.
We particularly recommend the quiet season outside of the holidays: couples can do sports or go to Eichstädt, Ingolstadt or Regensburg - and stop off at one of our good Beilngrieser inns. If you wish, we can turn on the sauna and you can enjoy our whirlpool and the beautiful relaxation room on the comfortable loungers. At Ferienhof Schmidtner, every season is truly something special.
Families with children
During the holiday season, families with children, grandmas and grandpas enjoy the beautiful garden with fruit trees - sometimes families of friends also meet up for a holiday together. Our two cats Sammy and Lilly like to be cuddled, the chickens lay fine eggs and the rabbits wait for dandelions. Our three horses are beautiful to look at - even if we are not a riding company. Grandpa Hans turned his hobby into a profession at an early age: that's why our fish shop sells trout and char from the trout stream - prepared on the wood grill, they are a delicacy. Fishermen have the opportunity to catch carp, pike, zander, tench or barbel in our fishing ponds - and of course we are there to help and advise you.

Upon arrival, we advise our guests to first explore our beautiful nature on foot: for example, with a walk to Plankstetten Monastery, where you can stock up on delicious organic products, such as freshly baked bread, fruit and vegetables, sausage and meat from species-appropriate husbandry . Our area is not only known for its cycling and hiking trails: in the episcopal and university town of Eichstätt we recommend a visit to the Law Museum at Willibaldburg, a canoe tour on the Altmühl and a visit to the old town with its many beautiful squares and churches. We have lots of suggestions ready.
