Location & size

Our bed and breakfast is located on the outskirts of Kempten in beautiful Eschach, on the "sun terrace" of the Allgäu with a fantastic view of the nearby Allgäu mountains! The foothills of the Alps behind our garden are characterised by many small lakes, wooded areas and meadows. Hiking trails through the vastness of the landscape are visible from our Landhof and in winter a ten kilometre cross-country ski trail runs right past our house. Thanks to the altitude of almost 1000 metres, not only is the air here particularly fresh and clear, but the winter months are also relatively snow-sure, so you can usually look forward to a picture-book white winter. We can no longer say exactly how long the farm has been here. But in the last century alone, it has been constantly changing: when our grandmother Anna started renting out the farm in the 1950s, she opened a new chapter for the farm and our family. Doris and Hans then took over the farm and continued what they had started by building a new house and modernising the four rooms. In 2022, their son Philipp fulfilled his dream of having his own cheese dairy with a small shop and café, which was built within the walls of a 270-year-old stable and barn right next to the guesthouse. Today, holidaymakers can enjoy the finest soft cheese specialities from our own production at our extensive breakfast buffet. Be our guests! We look forward to showing you the soul of the Allgäu.

Farm experiences

A Kneipp basin in front of the house, a garden with endless views of the countryside, a campfire site with bench and view - here you can relax and recharge your batteries in the midst of unspoilt nature, far away from the hustle and bustle and stress. With the mountain view before your eyes and the gentle ringing of cowbells in the background, you can simply put your feet up in a deckchair or let your thoughts drift away on the Hollywood swing. We spoil holidaymakers daily with a delicious breakfast buffet with regional and homemade products, such as spreads, fresh eggs and juices.

Stressed or tense? Then we recommend a visit to Sandra Bär in nearby Kreuzthal. As a kinesiologist, she is well versed in techniques to reduce stress and build up vital energy. By improving the flow of energy, the body is able to calm down more effectively. Or enjoy a very special bath in nature and immerse yourself in the reverent atmosphere of the forest. When forest bathing together with Sandra, the scents and atmospheric light become a source of calm and strength. Just give it a try!

All cheese?

A highlight not only at the breakfast table: the home-made products from Philipp and his two colleagues from the glass cheese dairy just a few metres away. In addition to various soft cheeses such as Brie, the "Pfefferbert" refined with green pepper or the "Rote Flüh" named after the view, they are also passionate about cream cheese, quark and yoghurt varieties sweetened with various fruits. This is where old traditional craftsmanship meets the appreciation of regional products: The "Hoimat" is an absolute project of the heart and revives the forgotten origins of Allgäu raw milk soft cheese thanks to the freshest hay milk from the neighbourhood. Let yourself be initiated into the secrets of cheese production during a guided tour and experience live how great products are made by hand from organic hay milk. Share moments of happiness with friends and family during tastings with cheese sommelier Lisa and try our range of cheeses. You can browse through a great selection of our products in the shop café:

  • Our cheese products: Soft cheese, cream cheese, quark, yoghurt
  • Wine and beer
  • Schnapps
  • jams
  • Mustard varieties
  • herbal mixtures
  • and much more...

Highlights in the surrounding area

Cows, cheese and churches - the Allgäu is actually just that and yet so much more. When the first mountaineers explored the Allgäu Alps in the 17th century and the teachings of Sebastian Kneipp became known in Bad Wörishofen, they opened the door to health and hiking tourism and brought many summer holidaymakers to the region, which was characterised by dairy farming. Our tranquil village of Eschach lies on the edge of the Kürnach Forest, the largest contiguous fir-spruce-beech forest in the Alpine foothills. On the large forest circuit via Kreuzthal and Wiggensbach, marvellous impressions of nature await and are accompanied by the sounds of the species-rich forest. Attentive hikers may discover the two large memorial stones of the so-called Schwedenschanzen along the way, which mark the 400-year-old defence ramparts from the Thirty Years' War and tell of the area's long history. Nearby, nature also reveals its many facets in the strude holes, Waterfalls and impressive rock faces, such as the Eistobel between Maierhöfen and Grünenbach. There are even more natural wonders to discover on the Water Taster Trail or the Moor Nature Trail.

You can also spend your winter holiday with us and it's guaranteed not to be boring! In addition to the cross-country ski trail, the Eschach Schwärzen lifts are right on the doorstep, where you can savour winter to the full with skiing and tobogganing.
