Allgäu family farm with sunny isolated location

Wir leben auf der Sonnenseite. Unser Hof liegt mit malerischem Blick auf die Allgäuer Berge in idyllischer Alleinlage am Rande von Oberstaufen, mit Sonne von früh bis spät. Familien mit kleinen Kindern fühlen sich bei uns vom ersten Moment an aufgehoben. Wir, Irmi und Martin Schädler, unsere beiden Töchter Leni und Marie sowie Oma Yvonné und Tante Hildegard freuen uns auf Sie.

Location & Size

Our traditional Allgäu farmhouse with its inviting green shutters is located only two km from Oberstaufen - and at the same time completely alone and quiet, far from noise or through traffic. Oberstaufen can be reached on foot in ten minutes with your shopping basket, Immenstadt is just under 20 min away by car, Lake Constance can be reached in 40 min and the Austrian border is also very close.

The Auszeit Hof looks back on a long history - to our knowledge it is at least 200 years old and has been run by our family for 150 years. Being a host - that is in our genes, because already in 1955 the first summer visitors came: at that time of course without running water, under the beds there was still a chamber pot ready.

Since then, a lot has changed: our two vacation apartments "Hochgratblick" and "Staufenblick" are as well equipped as we ourselves would wish. We have chosen the furniture with care, many bear witness to the finest carpentry. The floors are made of natural wood, which is meticulously cared for and for this very reason provides a particularly homely atmosphere. 

A real treat is our Auszeithütte, newly built in 2018, which stands above the farm, sunny on the edge of the forest in a romantic secluded location: with panoramic windows down to the ground and a wood-burning stove that crackles away cozily on cool days.

Our attention is focused on families with small children, for whom we provide cribs, fall-out protection, changing table and everything that allows a relaxed, safe vacation.

By the way: the wonderful bread rolls of our baker hang in the morning in a little bag at the door. A relaxing vacation day starts just like that!

Farm experiences

Arrive and start your vacation right away: that's exactly what our guests love the most. A homemade cake is waiting in the vacation apartment - in the meantime, the children conquer the grounds with one of our coveted Kettcars. 

We are an organic farm with mother cows. Our eight or so shaggy Galloways and their offspring are kept in the barn in winter, and in summer they help themselves to our lush Allgäu meadows. Children and adults alike are delighted to witness the little ones drinking from their mothers. 

In addition to the cows, there are also our ponies, the little pigs Spike and Goliath, our curious, gentle alpacas, the two cuddly cats Franzi and Tom, the rabbits and chickens, whose eggs are of course particularly tasty. No question: our many species-appropriate animals are the stars of the farm for the children. Pigs, chickens and ducks run around freely, the rabbits can be fed and stroked - together we start our daily animal farm program with the children during the week.

And so that no boredom arises, we also bake stick bread (the sticks are of course carved ourselves) - or we go on a little hike with the alpacas. By the way, in spring they are sheared and from their fine wool grandma and aunt Hildegard knit wonderful socks, which our guests can buy as souvenirs. What else is there with us:

  • Playground with swings, seesaw and small climbing tower
  • a large fleet of kettcars, pedal cars and more
  • a ride on the bulldog
  • a large sandbox and muddy area
  • wooden horses
  • seats with grill in the garden
  • sausage and landjäger from our own pigs

Pony pleasure at Auszeit Hof

To be clear: we are not a horse farm, although we love horses. However, our two ponies Julchen and Monti may be ridden or walked at any time except on Sundays (because even horses deserve a day of rest) - depending on the age and ability of the children. With the older ones it goes out in the afternoon in company after arrangement into our beautiful area.

Winter magic in front of the door

In winter, the Allgäu is simply unbeatable! Our vacation children get out the sleds and bobsleds and whiz down the slope right in front of the farm. Castles are built, balls are rolled for the snowmen - and in between it's time to warm up in the cozy vacation apartment. Mom and dad best join in, because the best part of the vacations is the time spent together! 

Highlights in the surroundings

Get in the car, go on excursions, all this is possible with us in the attractive Allgäu. But in our experience, there is so much to experience at the farm that the children would prefer to stay here. In summer, the nearby Großer Alpsee lake beckons for swimming, small and large mountain tours, a hike up the Staufen, our local mountain. In winter, countless paths invite you to go for a walk, cross-country skiers climb directly into the next cross-country ski run, skiers take the Imbergbahn or drive to Oberstaufen.

Holiday house Auszeithütte

Since this September you can stay in our newly built Auszeithütte cozy and comfortable. The cottage is completely made of wood and is located above the farm in a secluded location by a row of trees.

A roofed terrace, 2 separate bedrooms (one master bedroom with a double bed and a children's room with 3 beds), a cozy living room with a tiled stove, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen, underfloor heating, WLAN, TV and complete equipment for small children (crib, high chair, stair guard, step stool, toilet seat) will make your family vacation special from the first day on.
