At Ferienhof Lochau you can stay allergy-friendly in one of 4 tastefully furnished holiday flats or in our lovingly renovated farmhouse. In the green idyll of the Lochau valley, on the edge of the Neubürg, you can enjoy 4 to 5 star comfort on our farm. The scenically beautiful, absolutely quiet single-farm location guarantees rest and relaxation for body, mind and soul. Despite the seclusion, you are only a good quarter of an hour from Lochau, a small hamlet of 7 houses in the municipality of Eckersdorf at the northern gateway to Franconian Switzerland, and the Upper Franconian district town of Bayreuth. Farm experiences
How does farming work, based on the respectful coexistence of humans, animals and nature? On our organic and part-time farm we will show you: We let our cows and calves out to pasture in the summer, grow our own feed for them as well as for our chickens, geese, ducks, rabbits and piglets, heat our farm including holiday homes and swimming pool with wood from our own forests and use solar energy for hot water and electricity. Sustainability is close to our hearts - and we communicate this in many ways on our adventure and health farm.
Bullerbü in Franconian: getting families excited about farming
On our farm there is everything children could wish for - small and big cats, a cute rabbit family, a good-natured dog, even chickens, geese and ducks that can be touched: How does the down on the goose's belly feel? How big is its wingspan? As an experiential farmer, Hermine, I know that children learn best when they use their head, heart and hand in equal measure. That's why I actively involve them in my work on the farm every day. We feed and care for the animals, determine the grains while we are milling the grain, look at the development of the honey bee in the bee house, steer the tractor through a course together and are all happy together when the little holiday guests feel like farmer Hermann with their stable diploma and tractor driving licence in their hands. And of course, adults can also help out with the harvest and on the farm! What we also offer:

Ferienhof Lochau is the ideal place for families who like to combine nature with wellness! We are a health farm recognised by the Kneipp Association: here you can refresh yourself by treading water, sweat in the steam bath as well as in the climate or Finnish sauna, work out on fitness equipment, swim in the heated indoor pool or relax on a comfortable swinging lounger.
Highlights in the surroundings
The area around Lochau has a lot of nature and culture to offer. For example, in only 10 to 20 minutes by car you can reach the Teufelsloch (Devil's Hole) and the Aftergraben in the Limmersdorfer Forst - two impressive rough sandstone gorges that make our landscape so special. Also worth a visit: the Sanspareil rock garden in Wonsees, the terraced gardens along the old town wall in medieval Hollfeld, the garden art museum in Fantaisie Castle and - of course! - the Wagner city of Bayreuth. Its Margravial Opera House, one of the most beautiful baroque theatres in the world, is a World Heritage Site, as is the old town of Bamberg, about 45 minutes away from us. Those who are more interested in the history of the earth, on the other hand, can visit the geological nature trail in Plankenfels or the Mistelgau fossil pit. And for those who like adventures on holiday, head to Pottenstein, 30 minutes away, where summer toboggan run, climbing forest, devil's cave and canoe tours on the wild Wiesent river, among other things, provide adrenaline! Whether you want to whizz down the toboggan slope, glide across the ice pond on ice skates, hike through the snow-covered landscape on snowshoes or simply let off steam in a wild snowball fight: there are plenty of winter adventures to be had around Ferienhof Lochau. For cross-country skiers and alpine skiers, the Fichtelgebirge, about 35 kilometres away, offers well-prepared downhill tracks and an extensive network of cross-country ski trails at the foot of the Ochsenkopf.
