Sustainable lakeside holiday farm with own refreshment stop

Location & Size

How does it feel to live in a wonderfully secluded location with one of the most beautiful and deepest mountain lakes in the Bavarian Alps right on your doorstep? What describes this feeling when, at dawn, Herzogstand and Co. peel out of the morning cloud cover at the other end of the lakeshore and are reflected in the crystal-clear, turquoise-blue waters of Lake Walchen? Absolute outer and inner peace - or pure relaxation. Speaking of the lakeshore: our small, natural bathing beach is only 80 metres away from the farm. Hiking trails and mountain peaks abound in the immediate vicinity. Thanks to the secluded location at the foot of the Jochberg, one of Munich's local mountains, only a narrow road leads past our farm and is the starting point for numerous hiking and cycling trails. Sachenbach, first mentioned around 1294, is the oldest part of the municipality of Jachenau and yet lies just under six kilometres outside the town centre. On the other side of the Kesselberg, you reach the centre of Kochel am See after a good eleven kilometres. Take advantage of your time with us to indulge in the tranquillity of the majestic mountains above the calm waters, away from the hustle and bustle. We have developed and furnished our eight holiday flats and one double room with a lot of heart and soul, as well as our Einkehr, which invites you into the beautiful, cosy guest room since the renovation in winter 2017. With the mountain panorama, intact forests and meadows before your eyes and the juicy ringing of the cowbells in your ears, holiday happiness slowly sets in.

Farm experiences

We have always remained true to our roots and, just like the generations before us, place great value on sustainability in the management of the farm. You can see what we mean by this with your own eyes in our organic farm with dairy cattle, cattle, calves, chickens and also petting animals such as cats and guinea pigs. The preservation of small-scale farming in the Alpine region is very close to our hearts. In doing so, we follow the rhythm of nature: In spring we make all the preparations so that our young cattle can fill their bellies with nutritious meadow herbs day and night on the pasture in summer. The hay harvest is partly done by hand, with the whole family lending a hand. Especially to the delight of our little holiday guests, the calves stay with their mothers on the farm, where they are sure to be delighted by curious visitors. Holidaymakers can also pass their time at the farm with a good book on the sunbathing lawn, the barbecue area, at the playground in the garden or with the vehicle park, where children of all ages will find the right play equipment or vehicle for them.

Good things from the dairy kitchen

Fancy some fresh milk? Or how about an aromatic raw milk cheese from our own production? Since 2019, a self-service cabinet at the Jörglbauernhof has proven its worth. Around the clock, you can help yourself to the assortment of fresh dairy products, which includes these products, among others:

  • fresh organic milk from our own cows
  • butter
  • curd cheese
  • cream cheese
  • various fruit quarks
  • different kinds of raw milk cheese

We use only the milk from our own cows in the production process. In the "dairy kitchen" our son Benedikt lives his passion and, as a trained dairy technologist, dedicates himself devotedly to the production and development of delicious dairy products.

Cosy stop on the lakeside

Homemade cakes, coffee and freshly baked farmhouse bread with a portion of hearty Obatzda - from May to October, hikers, cyclists and also our holiday guests will find a cosy place to linger in our inn. In addition to the farm, Johanna's heart beats especially for the farm's own inn. Whether for breakfast or after an extensive hike: her snacks and home-baked specialities are a delight in every situation! The highlight is the wonderful view of the Walchensee lake in the face of the sun, which slowly wanders over the peaks to finally disappear behind the picturesque mountain range.

Highlights in the surroundings

Whether hiking, cycling, swimming, sailing and surfing, fishing or even diving - with its ravishing scenery, Lake Walchen is a popular excursion and leisure paradise. Try your hand at stand-up paddling on the calm but cold water, for example, or rent a boat to cast your line in the lake. A walk along the wooded shore alone is extremely soothing for body and soul. A trip to the "Zwergern Spitz", the picturesque peninsula in the southwest of the Walchensee, is highly recommended. If you are travelling by bike, you can combine the tour with a visit to the "Flake" film village, for example, and see original sets from Michael Bully Herbig's Wickie films. Hikers and mountain enthusiasts sit right at the source of many scenic tours during their holiday with us. In addition to the classic tour to the Herzogstand and Heimgarten peaks or the well-visited Jochberg, we also have tips for less frequented tours in the surrounding area. Ask us - together we can plan your dream tour. With all the activities, of course, you should definitely not miss a visit to the charming village centre of Walchensee/Urfeld, which enchants with its traditional Bavarian house facades.
