Location & Size

Idyllically situated on a slight hill is our fully managed farm, nestled in the lush green meadows and forests of the foothills of the Alps. The village of Grilling is located in the middle of the Chiemgau vacation region and is surrounded by the magnificent mountain panorama of the Chiemgau Alps. For generations, the Lohner-Hof has been family-owned, since 1872 to be exact. We are very proud of this long tradition. It has always been a matter close to our hearts to treat nature with care. That is why we manage our farm sustainably and are very concerned about species-appropriate animal husbandry. The well-being of our guests is also particularly important to us. Our four spacious 5-star vacation apartments are equipped with high-quality materials. For example, the wood for the interior fittings comes from our own forest. The parents' beds were specially made from Swiss stone pine, which is known for its health-promoting effect. All apartments have two bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a cozy dining area and underfloor heating. For the youngest members of the family, we have baby and toddler equipment ready, so you don't have to bring too much. And thanks to the morning bread service, our guests at Lohner-Hof can start the day with a delicious breakfast.

We are real family people ourselves and therefore especially love to offer families an exciting and unique vacation with lots of experiences. With us, you and your children can learn everything you ever wanted to know about life on the farm. Whether it's working in the barn together or petting the animals - especially our little guests love to participate. But that is by far not all you can experience with us:

Play for the little ones, time out for the big ones

While the children are busy on the farm, the parents can finally switch off! After all, on vacation everyone should be able to do what they want. Around the farm there are numerous cozy places, for example our hammocks, loungers in the idyllic orchard or the flower meadow. In the afternoon, the whole family goes to one of the many lakes in the area or on a bike tour through the beautiful Chiemgau and the evening ends together making bread sticks at the campfire.

Conscious and sustainable vacation

In the management of our farm we attach great importance to protecting the environment. A respectful treatment of plants and animals is natural for us, this is reflected in the choice of building materials as well as in the nutrition of the farm animals. An own thermal power station is responsible for the energy supply in the house. You can buy many farm products from us, including milk from our own dairy, jam, honey, apple juice or wood-fired bread, which Grandma Elisabeth sometimes bakes together with the guests.

Highlights in the surroundings

Our farm is the optimal starting point for all kinds of activities: Hiking, biking, swimming, museum visits or shopping trips. A big highlight is the Chiemsee, which is only five minutes away. In about 15 minutes you can also reach it by bike, where directly connects the popular Chiemsee bike path, which leads around the lake. The crossing to the island of Herrenchiemsee with the historic paddle steamer is an experience for everyone. The baroque fairy-tale castle on the island delights the whole family. The Berchtesgaden salt mine with its mine train is also an interesting excursion destination. For rainy days, the Siegsdorf Museum of Natural History and Mammoths with the best preserved mammoth skeleton in Europe is a great place to visit. For a city trip Salzburg is about 50 kilometers away, to Munich it is 110 kilometers. For hiking enthusiasts we recommend the ascent of the Kampenwand or a tour to the Hefteralm or Rachlalm. A typical alpine snack and a fantastic view reward all efforts here. In winter, our region is a snowy paradise, ideal for tobogganing (for example below the Roßkopf near Marquartstein), skiing in the Hochfelln ski area and cross-country skiing on the 3-lake trail between Ruhpolding and Reit im Winkl.
